    I suspect some of the motivation for this is practical foreign policy, Burnham probably doesn’t want to risk pissing off the Trump administration this early and Labour themselves aren’t exactly clean-handed given the Mandelson scandal. Still a bad move in my opinion, it would be popular domestically at a time he’d do well to shore up Labour’s polling (bringing the hammer down on nonces is just about the only thing we can agree on these days) and conflict with Trump is inevitable anyway given his conduct of foreign affairs.
