In Canada, they have a very powerful politician called Danielle Smith.

She is obsessed about oil and gas. She argues that without more oil, Canada is fucked.
Justin Trudeau introduced a tiny carbon tax to encourage people to purchase fuel-efficient vehicles. That’s because Canadian currently drive the least efficient cars in the world
Danielle Smith called it outrageous and disgusting

The Federal Government tried to reduce plastic pollution. Danielle Smith said it’s outrageous and she sued the government

Stephen Guibauilt, the Quebec-born Minister of the Environment said plastics is linked to cancer. Danielle Smith reacted by posting this picture.

These fires are horrible. But perhaps they are necessary so people wake up.
But Danielle Smith was elected by Albertans.
The fires are predominantly in other provinces, this one being in central BC. A province Alberta has wanted to exploit without regard to its environment for years.
The sad thing here is that these wildfires may result in the current NDP government being replaced by a BC Conservative government in the next election cycle, making everything exponentially worse.
It’s not just the wildfires that will lead to the NDP failure, but yeah it is a very scary possibility. Being made significantly worse now by the federal government backing Smith’s pipeline dream BS and putting added pressure on our already pretty spineless premier.
