They’re speed running the entire history of abuse that happened to them. Now they’re doing it to someone else. It’s pogroms, ethnic cleansing, fascism. They’re doing everything up to extermination camps. They draw the line at industrial “disassembly-line” extermination. It’s the saddest irony in the history of human relations. I wish psychologists would help to describe this phenomenon, because humanity is going to need all the receipts for the New Nuremberg Trials.
I think in the psychology of the individual, the term would be perpetrator introjection. Same concept as “hurt people hurt people”. It’s plausible imo, the same phenomenon applies on a collective level.
