Still glad I haven’t purchased it.
I’ve learned my lesson. The BF series is a $10 or under bargain bin series to me now. They’ve fucked around with Rush in previous titles too. Maps don’t feel like BF maps anymore. Miss all the custom servers where I can stay in the same server with the same people from round to round. Bunch of sweaty preteens making the place stink.
I’ll still play it…a few years from now when it’s 85% off on a Steam sale. Like I’ve done with the last 2 or 3 titles.
If it sounds unbelievable
Sounds quite believable and what we should expect. Good on Steam for having the customer’s back and processing a refund when EA neuters the customer’s game.
I’ll just add this to the list of reasons I’m glad I have sworn off any game attached to ea.
While I’m all for pro-consumer, this doesn’t seem right, no? Having played the game 470 hours already and still wanting a refund even after clearly getting your money’s worth? It seems wrong — at least for me anyway. Also of note, it’s not like DICE will keep Rush out of the game mode rotation forever. They cycle these modes back in. Is it asinine that they do it? Yes, but if you’ve played a game this much and presumably enjoyed it, don’t the devs deserve some of your dime?
Author is clearly a corpo simp and deserves to have their car’s seat warmers retroactively paywalled.
It’s not like the actual devs are even getting paid their fair share of the game’s profits, they largely get paid the same either way and the rest lines the pockets of investors.
We removed all the backseats of your car, yes that’s true, we are sorry about that. This is a random new internal policy. We understand this might be upsetting to you but you asking for reparation seems to be a bit of an exageration since you have used your car for so much hours already.
I agree and I absolutely will have a double standard here. Do it to a big studio and it’s a fun exploration of how far you can push a refund policy.
Do it to an indie dev and I’m ostracizing you.
Do it to an indie dev and I’m ostracizing you.
If an indie dev decided to randomly start removing content a year after release, they would deserve to have it done to them too. You get more leeway as an indie, but it’s not a free pass.
I don’t care what size your studio is. If I pay for a product it is mine. If you start taking things away from that you owe my a refund.
How about AdmiralPatrick?
Who?
Former Lemming that developed Tesseract, and implemented a hidden blocklist in the Tesseract frontend.
Ah yes that idiot, fortunately I never used tesseract but yeah fuck him.
Same here, but I got one of the medallions for being on the block list, and your comment reminded me of him. Cheers!
No online games need to be about to do that. Like mmos that have events that change the game. They changed my comic I’ve been reading do i get all of them refunded?
It’s not even that to me.
To me it’s simply that you were promised to pay for a complete game. They didn’t tell you to pay for 3 modes for 2 years, and then the rest for a few more years, and then they shut down the servers.
This is what we call false advertising and a breach of contract. You can’t bury those things - they have to be apparent at purchase.
We wouldn’t do this to an indie studio, because indie studios don’t decide to remove features randomly 2y in. If they did, hell yes I would criticize them.
I wonder if others got refunds for destiny 2 removing content.
Why would hours played matter?
Ignoring the fact that portions of the game were removed: Because the refund system is designed around the idea that after a few hours of gameplay you realize you don’t like the game. A short trial. If you play for 400+ hours you obviously enjoy the game and have likely beaten the game several times in the case of story-based gameplay. It would not be cool to be getting refunds on games where you’ve experienced all there was to offer. All in all, it’s abnormal for refunding to be allowed after so much time played.
Developers want to play shitty games, and think they have all the power. It’ll take the backing of companies like Steam, PSN, and XBox to side with players to ensure that this doesn’t become the norm.
It’s the same as buying a saw and returning it after the job’s done. Most people end up not doing it.
I was considering getting BF6 when it went to half price.
Then EA got bought by Kushner. So nope.
