People should eat whole foods, unprocessed. Examples: chicken, carrots, spinach, eggs, milk, brussel sprouts, onions, cashew nuts, berries, apples, olive oil, etc. Not everyone will agree with these examples but the point stands.
Most people don’t do this, though. And, they pay the price in health as they get older.
People are, and should be, free to choose to fuck up their own bodies. And, people do just that. It’s hard to say that it’s out of ignorance, because the message is presented loud and clear starting in childhood.

You still want to eat sweet treats? Buy some flour and jam, honey or chutney. Make some sourdough buns. Guarantee it will cost a fraction of what this processed shit does and should be better for you. You don’t even have to measure anything. I do all my baking on vibes.

My mom used to make pies when I was a kid and she would use the excess dough to make tarts with jelly in them. Those were the real Pop Tarts to me.
