The U.S. embassy in Havana issued a health alert for Cuba on Friday, warning travelers and residents of a spike in intestinal illnesses and diarrhea caused by failing water and electricity supply, even as the Trump administration continued to hold back fuel shipments necessary for power generation on the island.
“The U.S. Embassy has noted a significant increase in diarrheal illness across Cuba, associated with the continuing degradation of the water and energy infrastructure,” the alert stated. “This degradation affects water supply, and food storage and temperature control.”
The U.S. warning comes nine months after the Trump administration imposed a fuel blockade on the communist-run island, contributing to a sharp spike in power cuts and complicating refrigeration and sanitary measures in homes and businesses.
This is a stupid point of view to hold. What would getting rid of it do? At best, it makes it harder to negotiate (not that much of that is happening, but they should try). I don’t see any positives for not having an embassy.
The “the enemy” rhetoric is for children. They should do absolutely everything possible to get the best result for their people that they can. I hate how so many people are blinded by rage and hatred, but luckily they aren’t in charge. You don’t cut your nose off to spite your face. You use whatever tools you can gather to improve things. If this means attempting to work with “the enemy” then they should. Asking for the blockade certainly isn’t in their best interest.
The people literally sanctioning and blockading aid to an impoverished country because of RAGE and HATRED says the opposition to it are blinded by rage and hate.
Look around, most of the world knows who the apathetic children of rage and hatred are.

I’m not sure what your point is here. Are you arguing that what the US is doing is good, or are you arguing that doing stuff just for revenge, or whatever, is bad? Either way, it agrees with what I’m saying. The US embargo is stupid. It should not be happening. Both nations should be trying to lift it. Just because one isn’t doesn’t mean the other should stop, right?
If they stop negotiating to get rid of it they’re effectively allowing it to continue. I don’t understand what you’re not getting. This is not a moral or emotional argument. It’s bad for Cuba, right? Why should they stop trying to get rid of it? Tell me one material thing they gain by removing the embassy. (Revenge, satisfaction, or other emotional things are not material and do not actually matter.)
Cuba has been doing everything possible to get the best result for their people, literally for decades, and in the face of crippling US sanctions. 100% the US is trying to destabilise Cuba from within, in addition to their threatening rhetoric - THAT is why there should be no enemy embassy on soverign soil. These are not the actions of a friendly nation, but of the enemy. Why would Cuba want to negotiate with US terrorists who bomb and kill indiscrimately, and are never held accountable for their broken promises?
I don’t think you understand how things work. Do you know the whole “we don’t negotiate with terrorists” thing is totally bogus. Any time there’s a terrorist, people negotiate with them, because it gives the best outcomes. It also gives the best outcomes to pretend like you don’t negotiate, so fewer people think they can.
There is literally never a time where a nation shouldn’t negotiate with their “enemies”. There are times where you should pretend like you won’t, if you’re in a position of power, but Cuba is not in this position. They’d be stupid to not continue negotiating, no matter how belligerent the US becomes. The fact of the matter is they gain nothing from stopping. They shouldn’t allow a US military base, but that’s not what an embassy is. An embassy is there to normalize relations and handle diplomatic disputes.
Why would they want to? Because they want out of the embargo, or they want relief, or they just want to prevent things from getting worse. Just give me a single material (not emotional) thing they gain by stopping.
