2 months agoMy understanding was the premium was just more stable, reducing predetonation with higher compression. Unless you are losing mpg or power to predetonation wouldn’t switching make no difference? I ask out of curiosity, I’ll admit I know very little on fuel specifics.
They are already making AI-specific cards / devices, since the technical requirements are fairly different from consumer GPUs. The thing is, the silicon is made in the same fab, with a limited capacity. So manufacturers are shifting production from consumer devices to far more profitable enterprise customers. The cost won’t come down because the underlying resource (fab capacity) is now “worth more” and consumer supply is lessened.
