I get doing things because you can, that doesn’t mean it’s not wholly unsuited to the task and massive over kill that you only use because either 1. It’s self hosted so you are already paying for it or 2. It’s super cheap. You likely wouldn’t entertain such a set up if you were paying the true price for training and running the models.

I would say no, because even physical devices you purchase have to come with subscription plans or in some way talk back to the manufacturers servers that isn’t in your interest.

Maybe but even there there are limits on how much they will be willing to spend for junior level programming no matter how much of a ship fast fix broken methodology they adopt.

The public assumption that AI can’t tell fact from fiction and confidently makes stuff up doesn’t seem at odds with them being able to spin a good yarn.

That is a release engineering issue on the developers side in my opinion though no less real. Developers targeting Linux should target the current version of big LTS releases like debian and Redhat enterprise if they are serious about compatibility beyond “works on my system”

For the vast majority of computer users I’d says debian is fine since most users hardly step out of the browser these days.
