unsure how powerful your pc is. but i’ve heard you can achieve great performance on a vm using qemu. another option would be dual booting.

i haven’t tried it yet as my daily drive so i can’t say for sure. but some things are undoubtabtly really good implementations. the way apps are installed ensures a clean way out of dependency hell, the fact that you can declare your config and reproduce seamlesessly. in a way nixos works kind of like an atomic distro if you will because for example you could do crazy things like built your system from the ground up every morning if you feel like it. why do you mention about cpu? is it because of the compiling while installing apps?

this is something else i guess, it’s not about UX but about how the system works kind of. i’m not exactly sure about how silverblue does it but think of it this way. not everything in your system needs to be mutable (your home dir does) so those parts are isolated and made immutable, the user cannot modify them, this helps to keep a more stable system. they can be changed when the system updates them , but it’s more like they are replaced and a one image is built rather than a modification if you will.

wdym about hard? this is to achieve immutability plus kernel efficiency improvements.

fair, i didnt know about this gossip. i just knew hyprland as a cool wm.

why do you have to shit on hyprland? you could have the most boring aesthetic experience on earth but as far as i know this is an omarchy issue, hyprland doesn’t have any vulnerabilities, and it’s not just an aesthetic thing, you can do a lot of shit beyond simply aesthetic on hyprland. security and good looks are not mutually exclusive. and i dont think hyprland is here like “the thing” that will attract users. i don’t see new linux users using hyprland except in this case because it comes preconfigured, otherwise it’s for power users.
