I need to map network shares from my Synology NAS and also from a Win11 Pro desktop. There are just so many variations on how to do this. All I need to do is map drive letters to shares on startup so they are always available.

Ok, two things:
1 - Do you NEED to map them? Or do you just need to access them? If they were previously shared with Windows, that means they are SMB shares, which on most file managers can be accessed via the network section or by writing
smb://<user>@<address>in the location bar. This doesn’t work perfectly all the time, for example if you want to drag and drop a file from the share onto a browser upload page, it usually doesn’t work.2 - Have you successfully mounted them with
mountalready?To keep it simple, I am migrating a Windows PC running Sonarr to an Ubuntu PC. So looks like I need samba to access the windows shares. I now see Linux doesn’t use drive letters, so I mount the windows share to a mount point on Ubuntu. 2. No, haven’t done anything yet, just reading and trying to understand the differences.
