If you have the misfortune of having one of these abominations nearby take a look at the cpu usage in task manager when you click the start menu open. Try it, it’s fun.

Not exactly related, but if you use Windows without activation you cannot change wallpaper and it stays on Bing rotation. That makes perfect sense now.

Have you forgotten or perhaps repressed the fact that the vast majority of people using a computer are using Windows 11?

There are a shitload of people who this affects.

Well, that’s their problem if they chose to continue to use it. And even while still being on it, there are now many ways, many tool to avoid those kind of scenarii. But hey, people won’t try to look for a solution, it’s much mote conveninent to complaint than to try to find solutions

Well the whole article is basically complaining about Microsoft for doing their thing.

With all that happened with windows 11 already, everyone knows perfectly well that things are not going to get better overtime, it’s only gonna get worse…

I don’t get that trend of pointing out each new stupid feature they come up with.

What should we expect, that they are finally going to listen, to do the right thing and start doing an OS for the people?

We know it’s garbage, so let’s get straight to solutions or alternatives to get around that. These kind of articles serves no purpose.

If people are upset about not being able to control a software like this, maybe it’s time for them to wake up, stop being lazy, and adress the problem once and for all with an alternative that is not going to screw them wity spywares, ads, AI slop, pre installed bloatwares, useless features and forced updates bringing with them god knows what new shenanigans…

The total ad volume remains constant if you decrease W11 ads and increase Bing ads to compensate. It’s the law of ad equilibrium. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

On the fediverse it’s pretty much a given that most people use linux over Windows. (Or instead any big tech software realy)

As far as linux goes, pick whatever suits you. Or openbsd, templeOs,… come on get your feet wet already. Windows is boring.

Try Debian based Linux Mint with the KDE plasma desktop environment. Linux has its issues but they’re honest issues. Linux has hiccups because a bunch of volunteers are trying to build an airplane while flying it, while Windows has a bunch of C suite goons purposely creating a hostile user environment to monetize you for every red cent.

The fediverse is quite… geeky, for want of a better word.

Most people here probably assume it’s a given that we all know the alternatives so wouldn’t feel the need to mention them.
