Gurl, you better up your game and help the bro bring glorious tengriism to the entire west of yurop!
Girl if you don’t know the difference between the Ottoman and the Byzantine empires just know that you instruction is seriously lacking.
EDIT: education for instruction
Chelsea Handler had on this very stoned and very bored long-haired rocker who was kind of grunting replies to her questions.
She went on talking about Nicragua for some reason, then said “It turns out Nicaragua is right next to Honduras. Did you know that?”
Rocker: Yeah, sure.
Handler, genuinely surprised: Huh? Why do you know that?
Rocker: Because I was educated in England.
One kicked their feet up all day,the other was really Byzzy all the time.
Lots of bad educational systems out there.
And you know what tbh a lot of it has to do with bad teachers. I had horrible history teachers, like many others. I remember hearing about the Byzantine empire, holy Roman empire, Ottoman empire in middle school… But it never really meant shit to me other than some names and dates to memorize, which I forgot a year later.
But I’ve played video games like Civ and Crusader Kings and heroes of iron where I start reading nation/empire descriptions, start googling and reading Wikipedia, start reading on random shit like WW1 no man’s land and I’m fascinated by all the craziness in history. The Ottoman Empire was fucking massive and had sultans, and it wasn’t even that fucking long ago!
I was taught so much in history classes that I didn’t really understand until I developed an interest in them, like the Punic wars. This stuff is fascinating and it’s taught so horribly.
I heard the Ottomans were sick, man!

These games inspired a lot of history lessons for me as well. Sometimes there’s bad teachers and gaps in learning for all of us.
I agree with you. Education systems play a big role in wether people are educated or not and everything can’t be blame on individual but we should accept it as normal and say such things as OOP.
Sure but it’s more fun to just make fun of Civ V players
If you’re not helping me carve up France for the glory of Orthodox HRE, what are we even doing?
If she already knows that info, aren’t they then very compatible because she must also be a map video game addict?
Or he’s from the Balkans.
… I mean yeah.
Byzantine Empire as a term is a modern construct that obfuscates the glory of Rome and it’s inheritors (Finland)
Helsinki is the true Rome.
The Empire never ended.
That’s why I only date Venetians
Only people on the Sumerian king list
I only swipe right if our marriage means that my great-great-grandchild can potentially inherit the Holy Roman Empire
girls if he knows the difference between the present tense and the future tense just know you are the side hoe to his Wordle addiction
What’s even similar about those two?
Istanbul was once Constantinople
She’s dry and so transactional realpolitik and everyone gets a turn, most of them really into genocide?
