Finally got confirmation from my insurer of my payout for my Type R that got crashed into back in march (Juke driver…). Had to be stubborn to not accept Coparts stupidly low valuation.

It was alright, started to rewatch an old anime whilst working to a deadline and the days began to blur a little. Went to a barbecue yesterday with the neighbours which was nice, got to catch up with the ones I knew and met some I didn’t. They’re musicians so they played us live music and it was wonderful, until one of the guests choked on a sausage roll and their kid fell into the pond. I dragged them out but had to choose between the two victims - I saved the kid, but the guest bought it and was an influential donor at the hospital where I work so I caught the cold shoulder from the staff for a while until all the naysayers went silent after eating poison candy; 18 years later, that kid turned out to be the cuplrit as well as a prolific serial killer under a slew of different aliases with ties to Czech secret police, so now I’m stalking them methodically across Germany along with their twin sister and a jilted lover to right the wrong I made that fateful day

How bout you?

It’s been quite uneventful for us. Just extremely busy as my wife works evenings, so it’s straight from work to sorting dinner and the kids bedtime on my own most evenings, which takes bloody ages as our youngest doesn’t seem to crash until 10pm. Having the extra income takes a huge pressure off me as I’ve been the sole income earner for pretty much 13 years, however the downside is that I have very little free time.

Got my new glasses which means no more fucking about with contacts.

I’ve been really enjoying my standing desk! I’ve gone and ordered a walking pad, so hopefully I can rack up 10k steps a day. On the days I don’t go for a run a lunch, I can end up doing less than 2k steps a day!

Pardon my French, but it was shite, to say the least. Right after our holiday trip, our dog became very ill. First the little critter was in pain, the next day she lost the ability to walk. Got her checked, including an x-ray scan and ultrasound, but none the wiser. A slipped disc was the most likely culprit. Went to another vet where my partner lives for a second opinion and we all agreed we should get her a CAT scan.

We took her to one of the best clinics in this part of the country and they confirmed what we were all thinking.

Pro: It only took 2.5 hours from her first exam plus CAT scan and surgery at that animal clinic.

Con: It set us back 4 grand.

Now the baked potato is on a lot of heavy medication, but at least she’s home after only one night as an inpatient at the clinic and she’s recovering fairly well.

She’s bored out of her tiny skull, wants to play, but isn’t allowed to (4 weeks bed rest ordered by the doc), but she’s slowly getting better. She can even walk a few steps without help again and her appetite is back, too.

Now we need to get her some physiotherapy. The stitches can be removed in about 2 weeks or so.

Fingers crossed she’ll be fine soon.

Was alright thanks. Main highlight was doing karaoke with a bunch of friends yesterday evening though my voice is now quite fucked. Hopefully it’ll be somewhat improved by tomorrow.

Things are getting busier at work as colleagues in the Nordics are getting back to work after their holidays. Heatwave after heatwave is getting a bit boring, though. Dogs need walking early in the morning and spending any time outdoors with them during the day is out of the question. It’s almost like we are not getting the most out of the summer with this heat nonsense.
