Don’t sell them on the fediverse. Sell them on a particular instance. It’s a LOT less intimidating and they’ll still be interacting with fediverse content.

When I was younger I hated the “back to school” displays. Especially when you saw it in like the second week of your summer holiday, lol.

Traditionally, Advent could start on the last few days of November, so I think we should be lenient.

I don’t really care about premature selling of Christmas stuff, some people do like to get ahead and I get it. However Christmas decoration prematurely is a big no

Again, do you believe in allah? People regularly die for their belief in him, often taking others with them.
They don’t claim that allah personally appeared to them telling them that they must forgo everything and follow him. They believe in a book. If I was martyred for my faith, it wouldn’t prove anything except that I believed.
The difference here is I am talking about the FIRST HAND WITNESSES, the people who MADE THE CLAIM being martyred for their belief. They believed they saw Jesus risen. They believed He appeared to them physically and ate fish, with multiple at a time seeing the same thing. If someone is going to die in regards for something they saw, it’s likely true.
Just say I saw Kim Jong Un cheating on his wife, and I made the accusation publicly, knowing that I would be blasted to bits at point blank with a cannon for saying so and nothing else to gain except thinking this truth was important. And sure, that happens. It lends more credibility to the scandal of Kim Jong Un cheating on his wife that I gave my life up for it- why would I give my life up for something that’s a lie?
The apostles who gave their life up had nothing to gain. So I firmly believe that they didn’t think it was a lie. Therefore there is no other plausible explanation than that it really happened.
Bullshit. VWould you like some examples of christians calling each other sinners, heretics, etc based on arbitrary nonsense? There are many.
Then you have more denominational ranting, but I think this is the same fallacy that’s prevelant on the internet. I have first hand experience, I have researched a lot of this, I have grown up surrounded by different denominations, I know my statement is factually correct. Yes I know evangelicals, generally they’re concerned with just ensuring you’re actually a Christian and not just someone who says they are because they got confirmed when they were 10. Out of anyone, evangelicals are the least concerned about denominations, because their whole schtick is believing that Christ alone saves - which is what Christianity has generally taught in every denomination anyway, and work towards removing the distressing superstition of works-based salvation.
barring Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy - Although these, especially Roman Catholicism, has sat down and actually worked out faith alone to the point that they basically believe the same thing, it’s just the technicalities are different, with Roman Catholics believing when the Holy Spirit regenerates someone, their faith becomes truly visible by their works which also contribute and confirm to their salvation, while Protestants believe that the faith saves and the faith produces works as evidence of salvation. Basically, at the end of the day, a Christian looks exactly the same and they agree on who is a Christian
It’s like whenever there is a thing happening in your country and there’s a sensationalist article which overblows it, and you say “actually no, I don’t get xyz’ed every day” and then someone posts an article saying “actually, you’re wrong”.
I said my denomination is different from my parents, who’s denomination was different from their parents. My friends are interdenominational, so is fellowship my church engages in. If you are going to provide an example of what I am saying is being wrong, you’re either going to provide an example of some war from three hundred years ago or an example of some dude in the middle of nowhere in one congregation with a whole flock of like 30 people being a sectarian douchebag saying he is the one true church.
It is true, depending on the denomination.
It isn’t, unless you’re counting sects which aren’t even Christian like Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons (although pretty sure they’re quite universalist as well)

Find any Church that publishes a statement of faith. I can guarantee you that it is a paraphrase of the Nicene Creed if they have not flat out pasted the Nicene Creed in there. Denominations are formed over random stuff, usually church structure. Also things like “how much do we eat Jesus during Holy Communion” or “when do we baptise people” (probably the biggest thing because exclusive credobaptists exist, although exclusive credobaptists generally trend towards having a low view of baptism anyway)
Fuck you for choosing death.
If you say this to me one more time I am going to donate £5 to a church’s evangelical outreach on your behalf.

Demonstrate that god exists. Demonstrate that Jesus is god.
Do you realize there is exactly as much evidence for Muhammad and allah as for your bullshit?
There isn’t. Mohammed is a proven liar.
Why don’t you believe the quran?
The Qur’an claims that the Bible is the word of God, yet explicitly contradicts it, such as claiming Jesus wasn’t God nor The Son of God, nor was He crucified. Muslims claim that the Bible has been corrupted, but the Qur’an claims that the word of God cannot be changed, and also refers to the Bible in present tense. We know for a fact that the Bible we have now is exactly the same as what they had in 7th century Arabia. Hence, Islam is false. This is known as the Islamic Dilemma.
Oh, okay. Sounds nice on paper, if you’re an idiot. But which denomination?
Doesn’t really matter. Denominations agree on 95% of things. Christians love each other regardless of denomination. It’s people who don’t truly believe what Jesus taught us and care more about power that really care about denominations. I have never actually met a Christian pastor who wanted me to change denomination. My Church invites preachers from different denominations. My family is divided among Christian denominations as well. We have zero issues with each other apart from some recreational debates which we both know won’t change each others minds, but it’s just a fun activity to open up scripture and present our points for why we believe in a certain minor thing and why. There’s a strawman where people think “they believe if they’re not in the same denomination they’re not going to heaven” it simply isn’t true. I truly believe that all of my Christian Brethren will be in heaven, whether they are Papist, Eastern, Anglican, Lutheran, Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, etc. One of us is probably more right than the other, but we’d just laugh about it.
At the same time, Atheism isn’t completely coherent either. It’s split between Anti theism, Agnostic Atheism, Agnosticism, and plain old “I believe God doesn’t exist” which I’ll just call pure Atheism. There’s also Humanism which believes in morality, and a moreso form of Nihilism which doesn’t (forgive me if I am not up to scratch with the terminology here, but my point still stands).

Truth is not whatever you want it to be. Truth is truth, and we should all try not to distort it.
I agree, the truth is that Jesus of Nazareth is God and that we’d all be less divided if we would all accept facts over feelings and became Christian.

You are the bigot. I am defending reality from your death cult.
So I am a bigot simply for being a Christian? Way to make a word lose it’s meaning…
Yes, there is. You accept claims without evidence.
No, I don’t. There is substantial historical documentarg evidence which gives reason to believe that the Apostles believed what they saw.

Only 16% of global population is religiously unaffiliated according to this study. There’s also a possible percentage of them who aren’t complete Atheists.
Yes there is, you selfish moron. There is only one truth. “Supernatural” means not real.

You support the same death cult that ruined my life and is killing more people every day.
No, your parents and these Stowe people ruined your life. They just so happened to use Christianity as an excuse for abuse. In the same way, many religious positions, including atheism, have been used as an excuse for abuse. Many people don’t do that. I am sure many people who suffered under communist anti religious campaigns may view atheism as a death cult.
Yahweh is a death god. He solves problems of his own making with needless violence.
Punishing evil isn’t “needless violence”.
Christians worship a zombie savior, drink his blood, eat his flesh. Belief in an afterlife devalues our real lives. My parents think they are going to heaven when they die. They don’t care when human life is lost, they pretend the dead are better off that way.
If the afterlife is real, then yes, this “real” life is of less value. With the rest, I don’t see how this is a problem. I, too, can uncharitably frame atheists as “people who don’t believe there is a solid difference between right and wrong, and believe you can do whatever you like in this life to anybody because nothing matters and we’re all going to be blown up by the sun”. You can frame any ideology in such a manner. It’s not constructive, and such a framing doesn’t prove or disprove that ideology, my framing doesn’t disprove atheism or their arguments.
The least you can do is stop spreading this cancer.
I am going to spread it further. I have helped bring a few of God’s children to Him and hopefully will help bring a good few more, if God wills it.
Don’t make assumptions. Ask questions. Kids are dying for this.
You said you only believed because you didn’t want to go to hell, but didn’t really believe before then.
There is no standard, no way to verify.
It’s literally in the Bible. Examples of God’s love and patience are visible in the Old Testament and examples of God’s wrath and justice are visible in the New Testament.
Dumb fuck: “do what I say or suffer” IS NOT LOVE. God is not patient in the bible, he’s impulsive, cruel, and really fucking stupid. “I made man bad. I flood world. Oops, man still bad. Oh well.” What an idiot.
If God had the same amount of patience as the most patient man on earth, He’d have destroyed man to begin with and tried again. You and I wouldn’t be here.

In the few interactions we have had, you have actively defended a death cult. This behavior harms you, me, and everyone else. I consider it a sign of dangerous unintelligence when someone pretends that magic is real, a staggering lack of reading comprehension to fail to recognize the bible as fiction.
This just comes off as bigotry. Plain and simple. There’s nothing unintelligent with being religious or the lack thereof it. Yes, I, like the majority of humanity, believe in the supernatural. There’s nothing wrong with that.
If you’re referring to your specific upbringing within a family in the Southern United States within a Baptist denomination as the “death cult”, then no, I am not defending that. It sounds like they didn’t even teach you anything about “believe or you’ll perish” but didn’t give you anything to believe in.
Specifically, I believed in a loving god, but my parents embodied the cruel and violent tyrant of the old testament.
This is a misconception. Jesus in the New Testament talks about hell and warns of impending doom, in addition to Revelation (more than the old testament). While the Old Testament also demonstrates God’s patience and love, teaches you to love your neighbour, etc.

Except they’re not Nazis. Hexbear’ians at least know how to be funny tankies

Nah, it’s caused by selfish dipshits like you.
My friends are dead because you love this baseless, abusive bullshit more than real life.
You don’t know me, yet you make these accusations against me. Why?
I read your song a while ago. If I may- what did John Stowe and Christine do? It appears you also say that your parents physically abused you as an infant. This is not okay. You also said they worshipped a different god to the bible?

The basic aspects of the universe that God created can be observed and explored. He didn’t need to convey it in written scripture, which is the only way a redemption story could have been preserved.
Once again, it appears your argument fell apart but you’re trying to claim victory anyway
backwards book encouraging people to join a literal death cult.
The god who chose to make us suffer? Nah, fuck that guy.
Seems to be a heart issue ragher than a head issue. Basically all human suffering is a product of human activity anyway and the rejection of God, God doesn’t inflict suffering on us. Suffering is caused by the lack of goodness. But God does promise us the end of all suffering anyway. He will punish all wickedness and exalt the humble and meek. All one must do is accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour, and let Him transform them. He will have eternal life.

Except we know that it was written by people, indeed as scripture itself says it is. St Paul wrote that letter to Timothy, the Gospel of Matthew was written by Matthew, etc. Personality traits of the writers are present, such as St Luke who was a doctor having a few medical influences on his work. Matthew was Jewish and explains Jewish prophecy, and St John focuses on Christology, demonstrates a rivalry with St Peter and also shows his dislike for Judas Iscariot. St Paul laments his past.
Read your quote again.
Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
What is scripture useful for teaching, reproof and correcting in what? Righteousness, and to equip for good work. St Paul clealry states it’s an authority on Morality. Scripture is not useful for taxonomy, the exact political positions of figures at the time, or for determining the age of the earth. Scripture is for equipping yourself to live a God honouring life and it tells the Gospel message of Christ’s Virgin birth, Ministry and teaching, His suffering of death, His resurrection and ascension, and that He will return in glory to judge both the living and the dead; that His Kingdom will have no end. In light of that we can be equipped for every good work and know how to honour God. While there are some useful historical nuggets in The Bible (Nehemiah documents the earliest known usage of passports) it’s not a taxonomy, geology, astronomy or biology book.

Hexbear users are the funniest people on the platform

God didn’t write the Bible. You’re thinking of Islam and the Qur’an.
They just want to be closer 🙂
